Update 23.09.2025:
Shipping with DHL Parcel International to the USA and Puerto Rico will generally be possible again from September 25, 2025. The following must be taken into account when placing orders: All goods are sent „Postal Delivered Duty Paid“ (PDDP) for shipments up to and including USD 800 in value (previously duty-free). Recipient pays the costs in advance with the payment of the RCT, there are no additional costs for the recipients upon delivery.
The price for the PDDP service to the USA is EUR 2 per shipment plus the levied customs duties and the fees of the service provider, the so-called „qualified party“.
Roughly calculated, this makes the RCT about 20% more expensive for US customers. In addition, the cheaper shipping as a small parcel is not yet possible and can only be sent as a standard parcel.
Original:
Due to the new U.S. customs regulations, sending gifts valued over $100 or commercial goods via regular postal mail is no longer possible until further notice. In such cases, both private and business senders can use DHL Express for shipping.
You can find official U.S. government information on the background of these changes here (Executive Order) and here (Fact Sheet).
Shipping to the USA with DHL/Deutsche Post will only be possible again once the necessary processes have been implemented. This is because the USPS, in cooperation with DHL, must collect customs fees from the recipient and forward them to US Customs.
DHL Express operates in the USA itself and is not dependent on the USPS, so it can collect and forward the fees itself.
