This update may reset the configuration to the default setting. After the update, the SD card and other settings have to be made again.
New Features
Improvements
- New configuration: „Skip 0xFF“ skips cells with 0xFF to speed up programming.
- When programming EPROMs, a file can be selected now. Please note the specifications in the manual.
- Atari Cartridge ROMs (similar to 2364 but with bank switching) can be read directly with a custom definition.
- Logic IC tests can be looped when the test is started with a long press on OK (configuration needed, check manual).
- RCA CDP1831/1833 ROMs can be dumped.
- CDP1822 can be tested.
- 2101 Tests optimized.
- Does not display „0“ anymore, when an empty ROM block was read.
- Following features are recognized now: Page Mode, Static Column Mode and Nibble Mode.
Bug fixes
- 4528 with old datecode (before approx. 1990) can be tested.
- CDP1822 can be tested.
- A small bug in the Index Compiler fixed.
New Adapters
- Mostek MK28000
- 1-8 MBit EPROM Electronic Signature Adapter (27010-27080)
- PLCC28
- PLCC32
- Intel D8155/D8156
The Gerber data for the current version of the adapter has already been published. The schematics of all adapters are available in the BOM.pdf now.
New Memory ICs supported
- National 5298A/B (DRAM, 8k x 1) can be tested.
- FIFO RAM 7200 (256 x 9), 7201 (512 x 9), 7202 (1024 x 9), 7203 (2048 x 9), 7204 (4096 x 9) are supported now (also the PLCC32 versions).
New Logic ICs supported
New Custom Definition Files
There are new definition files for special memory modules.
Manuals
The manuals have been updated and can be downloaded from my website.
The interactive IC comparison list has also been updated, as have the PDFs with the supported ICs.
Untested ICs
Unfortunately, of the 1200 logic ICs that have now been implemented, a few tests could still not be verified because I don’t have the IC for these (this also applies to a few SRAMs, DRAMs and ROMs). I am grateful for any support here.
In my own interest
I am always happy to receive positive feedback, especially in forums or on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. When you are posting about the Retro Chip Tester it would be very nice if you could send me a link.
I set up two short links for easy linking:
- http://8bit-museum.de/rct (English)
- http://8bit-museum.de/rctd (German)
I also set up a support forum on Reddit. Questions and answers, suggestions, custom definitions for memory ICs, adapters and much more can be posted here.
